Important Instructions for Presenters

The Call for Papers is now closed.

Thank you for all of those who have submitted an abstract for WOC2012!

The full program including free paper sessions, instruction courses, video and poster presentations will be available online from 1st November 2011.



Abstracts accepted for the Free Papers Sessions

Free papers sessions will be organized in parallel with the invited program between 16th and 20th February 2012.

Details of the free paper sessions including the time, date and venue of the presentations have been communicated to the submitting authors on 30th September 2011. If you have not yet received your schedule, please contact speakers@woc2012.org.

Each free paper session will last 90 minutes and there will be 11 presenters in each sessions. The length of each presentation must not exceed 7 minutes.

A Question and Answer discussion will take place at the end of each session (once all the presentations have concluded), and not at the end of each individual presenation.

Presentations must be delivered in Power Point format. A title slide must be included at the start of the presentation to acknowledge all authors and disclose any financial interest. The slide format can be found below under 'Downloads'.


Abstracts accepted as Poster Presentations

Posters will be presented digitally as PowerPoint presentations. Each poster must not exceed 5 slides. Paper posters will not be displayed at WOC2012.

A title slide must be included at the start of the poster presentation to acknowledge all authors and disclose any financial interest. The title slide is not included in the 5 slide count. The slide format can be found below under 'Downloads'.

Animations must not be included on the presentations.

All posters presentation must be submitted prior to the meeting. All submissions must be completed by
20th January 2012.


Abstracts accepted as Video Presentations

Video Presentations should not exceed 10 minutes and should include a short 30 seconds introduction to acknowledge all authors and disclose any financial interest.

A final edited version of the video must be received before
15th January 2012.

Any video formats are allowed but generally MPEG, AVI, or QuickTime are recommended.

Sound must be in English.

Videos can be either sent by post or uploaded on a FTP Server online.

Videos sent by post should be saved on CD-ROMs or flash disks and addressed to:

At least 3 copies of the videos must be sent and the name of the author, abstract number and video title must be clearly stated in the mail. Please note that the CD-ROMs, flash disks or any other storage devises sent will not be returned.

An email acknowledging receipt of the video(s) sent by post will be sent to the submitting author from speakers@woc2012.org. Presenters should contact the Organizers promptly if they do not receive the confirmation email.

Details of the FTP server for those presenters who prefer to upload the videos online will be emailed to the presenting authors on
10th December 2011.


Abstracts accepted as Instruction Courses

The duration of the instruction courses is 90 minutes each. Courses will be scheduled between 16th and 20th February 2012. Details of the courses timing, date and venue has been communicated to the submitting authors on
30th September 2011. If you have not yet received your schedule, please contact speakers@woc2012.org.

Courses will be organized in smaller rooms that can accommodate from 30 to 60 participants. The room will be set up in theater style seating and will be equipped with a laptop, projector and screen.

A title slide must be included at the start of each presentation to acknowledge all authors and disclose any financial interest. The slide format can be found below under 'Downloads'.

Please do not include any figures, tables, charts, references or illustrations. Avoid statements like "Results will be discussed,” which may lead to rejection of the abstract.

Author Agreement

By submitting the abstract, the author confirms and agrees to the following:

a. All authors approve submitting this work for

b. The authors have done the work reported in the

c. The authors transfer all copyright ownership of the

d. The Scientific Program Committee reserves the

Publication

The abstracts will be published. Abstracts should be submitted in clear and concise English.
The author is responsible for using correct grammar and spelling, but the Scientific Program Committee reserves the right to edit abstracts for grammar and spelling.

Evaluation

Abstracts will be reviewed for their structure, content, perceived value to registrants in the WOC and degree of innovation. All decisions are final.

Financial Disclosure

Presenters at the 2012 WOC (including poster sessions) will be required to disclose any financial interests related to the presentations. Guidelines for disclosure will be provided.

Registration & Travel Costs

All presenters will be required to register for the Congress no later than 1st October, 2011.

Important Notice

According to the policy of the International Council of Ophthalmology and the requirements of the World Ophthalmology Congress, all presenters will be responsible for their own registration fees, hotel and travel expenses. We regret that we cannot waive registration fees or cover expenses for any speakers.
