Abstract

Three international ophthalmology experts will report how the FORUM® eye care data management system from Carl Zeiss has been implemented in their practices and clinics and how they benefit from the work how improvements. Dr. Rishi Singh from the Cole Eye institute of Cleveland Clinics explains how FORUM complements their Electronic Medical Record (EMR) by adding image management and viewing capabilities the EMR cannot provide. The FORUM allows to conveniently review and compare OCT data and fundus images side by side facilitating case assessments of retina specialists.

The preconfigured ‘clinical displays’ of FORUM further extends the efficiency of clinical case review. Dr. Baseer Khan runs a private practice in Toronto and has FORUM running on Mac computers throughout the practice sites. Significant improvements in work how efficiency through FORUM have been experienced by technical and administrative sta as well as by the clinicians. For Glaucoma cases the availability of all exam data throughout the entire case history and the FORUM combined report providing structural and functional information have proven extremely beneficial.

Dr. Marcus Kernt from the Eye Clinic of Munich’s Ludwig Maximilian University reports how FORUM has transferred their diagnostic imaging from paper based to electronic archiving and reviewing. FORUM has proven to efficiently integrate equipment from different manufacturers making it a universal solution for central archiving and instant availability of exam data. This led to time savings for clinical and technical stage, cost savings for printing, shorter waiting time for patients and a high level of data safety and accessibility.
