In response to requests from participants, we have decided
to extend the deadline for submission of abstracts until
1 July 2011


Invited Speakers should not submit their abstracts via this
website. A separate link will be sent by email.

The Scientific Program Committee welcomes the submission of abstracts to make presentations at the 2012 World Ophthalmology Congress®, February 16 – 20 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Free papers will either be integrated into symposia or presented in stand-alone free paper sessions.

Posters will be available online. All abstracts must be submitted in English and comply with the guidelines below.

You may submit more than one abstract.

Deadline, Review & Acceptance
The deadline for abstract submission is 01st July 2011 at midnight in Abu Dhabi. Submissions will be reviewed by the WOC 2012 Scientific Program Coordinators and the Scientific Program Committee.

1. Please create a new profile or log in into your speaker profile using this link »

You will receive a confirmation email and password.

2. Enter the following:

a. Title
b. Presentation Type
c. Subspecialty or Topic Area
d. Authors
e. Affiliations of Authors (e.g., University of Melbourne,
.... Melbourne, Australia)

The first author listed should be the presenter.
For courses, there may be two or three instructors.
List all who will participate.

3. Enter the body of the abstract. Total number of
... words without spacing should not exceed 200
... words.

4. You may submit more than one abstract.

Please do not include any figures, tables, charts, references or illustrations. Avoid statements like "Results will be discussed,” which may lead to rejection of the abstract.

Author Agreement

By submitting the abstract, the author confirms and agrees to the following:

a. All authors approve submitting this work for

The abstracts will be published. Abstracts should be submitted in clear and concise English.
The author is responsible for using correct grammar and spelling, but the Scientific Program Committee reserves the right to edit abstracts for grammar and spelling.


Abstracts will be reviewed for their structure, content, perceived value to registrants in the WOC and degree of innovation. All decisions are final.

Financial Disclosure

Presenters at the 2012 WOC (including poster sessions) will be required to disclose any financial interests related to the presentations. Guidelines for disclosure will be provided.

Registration & Travel Costs

All presenters will be required to register for the Congress no later than 1st October, 2011.

Important Notice

According to the policy of the International Council of Ophthalmology and the requirements of the World Ophthalmology Congress, all presenters will be responsible for their own registration fees, hotel and travel expenses. We regret that we cannot waive registration fees or cover expenses for any speakers.
