Abstract

The objective of this symposium is to describe recent innovations in cataract surgery, how these can be implemented effectively in the modern clinic, and ultimately applied for optimal refractive outcomes for the patient.

The symposium will cover the future of cataract surgery by describing the features and roles of the new Victus femto-cataract platform and the Stellaris Vision Enhancement System, and how the two systems can be used in conjunction for optimal patient outcomes.
The practicalities of integration of the Victus platform into a modern busy refractive clinic will also be outlined. The rational of phascovitrectomy procedure will be discussed in terms of the benefits for the patient, as well as the practical implications for the surgeon and the advantages of a system which can be used to perform both anterior and posterior procedures will presented.

Selection of IOLS will also be considered from the perspective of what best suites the needs of the patient but also baring in mind the practicalities for the surgeon. This will cover the advantages of the Victus platform in creating a precisely shaped and centered anterior capsulatomy, the use of an IOL designed for insertion through a micro incision, and the application of envista, a new glistening free IOL, for which 12 months data will be presented.
